[ Even as a kid, Raven didn't see the appeal of snow days. He's sure that has to do with his upbringing, though - his parents, stuffy as they were, didn't give him a break from his studies even when it was a winter wonderland right outside their window. Had to be a proper rich kid and live up to the family legacy and all that.
Now that he's older (and a total disgrace to the Atomais-Oltorain name), he still doesn't see it. The snow's cold and wet, soaking through his clothes in no time at all, and makes the roads damn near impossible to drive on. Not to mention his joints ache near constantly from the end of autumn to the beginning of spring, and he's guaranteed to catch at least four colds in three months.
But he's realized there's a lot in the world that his adopted son, Karol, sees that he doesn't. He feels that way with Yuri too. So he supposes he's found something good about the snow, even if it doesn't pertain directly to him: the sheer, youthful excitement they both get after a storm.
Bundled up in several sweaters underneath a robe, he shuffles through his little apartment to where his son and lover are getting ready to venture out into the cold, untouched snow. A fond smile tugs at his lips as he squats down to Karol's level with an "oof". ] It's freezing out there - you two sure you're wearin' enough? [ He pulls Karol's hat down firmly over his ears before looking up at Yuri. ]
[Raven is such a specific brand of "old man cute" that Yuri can almost not handle it. He's acting like he's 80 years old and Yuri loves him so much.]
Yes, mom.
[But okay, he may be a little eager to finally get outside in the snow already. There's something about the snow... he's loved it since he was a little kid. And when they woke up this morning to a blanket of white on the ground outside the window, Yuri had had to remind himself that walking out there as he was (no shirt, only boxers) and just put his face in it would have dire consequences.
Snow is magical. It somehow manages to bring both a very specific type of quiet but also this mystical, childish urge to play within Yuri. Getting to run around in it alongside Karol for the first time is probably heightening his excitement for it, too.
Yuri adores Karol so much.
He's not a person who normally likes kids, but Karol is special. He can't quite put his finger on why (and it's not just because he's Raven's kid because that wasn't always he case) but... he would do anything for the kid. He feels pretty blessed that he's able to experience these moments with Karol and Raven.] We'll be fine; we'll come right in once we get cold. Right, Captain Karol?
[ In Raven's defense, he definitely feels like he's 80 years old.
Karol gives Yuri a big, toothy grin - "Right!" - before reaching over and tugging on his sleeve a little. "Now c'mon! Last one out there's a rotten egg!" ]
Now hold on there. [ Though Raven sounds serious for a moment, it becomes immediately apparent that he's anything but when he wraps his arms around Karol and kisses his cheek loudly and obnoxiously.
Karol lets out a squeal, partly in delight and partly out of distress, and squirms in his grasp. "Daaaaad!!"
Raven laughs, kissing his cheek a few more times, and gives him one last tight squeeze before letting him go. ] Have a good time, okay, kiddo?
[ He stands back on his feet, up to his full still-shorter-than-Yuri height, and turns now to him. ] You too, Yuri. [ If he thinks he's getting away without also being obnoxiously smooched on the cheek, then he's mistaken. Mmmmmmwah. ]
Yuri makes a face but he can hardly contain the smirk bordering on grin pulling at his cheeks.] You're a dad, Raven, not a grandfather. [Buuuuut he squishes a quick kiss to Raven's cheek as well (quick only because he certainly can't keep Karol waiting.)] Keep warm too, okay?
[And he's out of there. Yuri loves how the cold feel on his face. How the snow crunches beneath his feet, leaving a temporary mark on an otherwise pristine landscape. How he can shape it in his hands to anything he wants...
Karol and he are obviously going to have the most epic snowball fight with all this snow at their disposal. But first, and most importantly, they need to make their bases. Yuri starts packing snow together to form a short wall for Karol.]
[ Yuri doesn't need to tell him twice to keep warm. With a warm and bright fire burning away in the fireplace (complete with a little dolls of Karol and Raven on the mantle, now accompanied by a Yuri he got commissioned from a friend), a warm cup of coffee in his hands, and a pair of ridiculously fuzzy (and obnoxiously patterned - thanks Yuri) socks over his feet, Raven's as toasty as can be. Having a quiet moment to himself, curling up on their too comfortable for its own good couch and hearing the laughter of his young son and lover right outside the window... it's heaven.
But after some time passes, he starts feeling a little restless. He goes to the patio, peeking outside as Yuri works diligently on making another snow fort... and a mischievous idea forms.
With all the other kids running around outside, it might be easy to miss the sound of a patio door opening - but Yuri definitely won't miss a snowball hitting him in the side of the arm from an angle Karol couldn't have possibly thrown from, or Raven on the porch trying to look as innocent as he can with his arms behind his head. He's even whistling - innocently, of course. ]
[There's no way Yuri can miss how that snowball soaks into his sleeve. And yes, Yuri very quickly realizes there's no way Karol could have thrown it either, even before Raven starts whistling like an idiot. Which means that Yuri is suddenly heavily considering how dangerous it would be to toss a snowball right back at Raven.
....He debates internally for, like, a minute. The patio door may or may not be open still, but he's a good shot.
Yuri packs his own tight snowball, and when turning away from his snow fort to face Raven he is almost grinning too gleefully.]
You better be able to take what you dish out, if that's how you're going to play!! [And he Throws.]
[ Yuri's a good shot, but Raven's decent enough at dodging. The snowball smacks against the glass door behind him with a resounding thud as he side-steps out of the way, a grin of his own spreading across his face. ]
Hey now! I think ya've got me confused for some other devilishly handsome man! I'm innocent!
[ ... he says, with his fingers still red and stinging a little from the cold snow. ]
[ That second snowball wipes the grin right off his face. It hits him right between the eyes and he yells. ]
YAAAA-- [ Raven frantically wipes the snow away from his face, rubbing his cheeks vigorously to try and warm up the now very cool skin. ] Cold, cold, cold, cold, cold!!!
[ After a bit more totally not manly at all shrieking as melted snow manages to slip under his shirt, he gathers himself enough to make a few more snowballs. ] I'm gonna get you for that, kid!! [ HERE COME TWO SNOWBALLS WITH YOUR NAME ON THEM YURI ]
