[ Well. This is sure a hangover from hell. Niles sits up slowly, hand over his forehead as he takes in his surroundings. He's in his dorm room. How the hell did he make it to his room? Last he remembers clearly he was at the frat houses across campus - not that he particularly liked a lot of the fraternity boys but, well. Always copious amounts of alcohol. Gotta make some sacrifices for a good night.
As he tries to piece together a timeline from last night (his memory is so spotty, oh my god, how many drinks did he even have) he tries to get out of bed but accidentally kicks someone in the leg in the process.
Wait. A leg? Niles blinks back the sleepiness as he takes in the figure next to him. Blond hair, light skin, a few tell-tale bruises scattered along his skin...
Ah. That fills in a few gaps. How he managed to get the smart and pretty boy from his biology class in bed with him is still a mystery, but he can't complain too much.

[ Sometimes, Niles doesn't understand how he got here. How he got this close to a prince of Nohr, wormed his way into his heart - and fell so deeply in love with him along the way.
He doesn't understand, but he doesn't question it, either. That Leo wants him by his side, wants him to stay with him so long as they both live, is evident in everything he does. And there's nowhere else Niles would rather be than here, feeling more at ease than he's felt in his entire life.
Though there is the slight issue of Leo sleeping on top of his arm, which is very rapidly losing circulation. Her lord needs to look his best, after all, and it'd be a tragedy if his clothes didn't fit perfectly! [ There's a sense of comfort and security that Uriel feels, being around Vero. No one else makes them feel quite the same. Sure, there's a place in their heart for Chrom and the other Shepherds - they believed in them when they didn't believe in themself, stuck with them thick and thin - but Uriel died and came back to life solely for Vero. If not for him, who knows where they'd be? Certainly not in a home they made for themselves outside of Ylissetol, living a quiet life with someone they... love. They love him. And he makes them honest to god happy.

[Vero has been stuck reading the same paragraph of his own book over and over because sometime between the moment Uriel curled up against him and the blessed quiet that settled over them, Vero was struck with how.. in love with Uriel and how happy he is, too. He never ever expected this. Uriel was nothing but trouble, a finicky thorn in his side in the beginning. And now....? Now, Vero would do anything for them. Uriel had died for him, and Vero knows he would have done the same for Uriel.

[Leo has been trying ever so hard to reign in his previous prejudices and assumptions about the Hoshidans since they joined together to fight against a common evil, but now that its peacetime and the kingdoms have been working together to try and keep the peace, Leo can say that there are a couple things he genuinely dislikes about Hoshido and its culture.
One: it's too bright in the morning. Two: the clothes are too complicated.
The clothing style looked so deceptively simple when compared to Nohrian fashion! (He loves the style of his homeland but often anguishes the excess clasps and buttons and designs that are easy for him to flub when he's barely awake in the morning.) But Leo, bless his heart, cannot figure out what to tie where and how his arms are even supposed to go. It's all to baggy - roomy - he's, quite literally, getting lost in the garment.

As young as she is, inexperienced, nowhere near ready to take the throne, she senses the turmoil that lurks beyond the castle's walls. The people are unhappy with her father's rule - it's only a matter of time before something happens.
With all the warnings of the guards running through her head ("be careful, princess! it's not safe to be out at night!"), she quietly slips out of her room to wander the dark, quiet halls of the castle she calls home. Maybe she can pick up a book from the library... read until exhaustion catches up to her. Or maybe just getting out of bed and a little bit of fresh air would be enough.
She doesn't quite make it to the library, though - out of the corner of her eye, she sees someone move, and it takes a moment for her to discern that whoever it is, they're not supposed to be there, and she takes a chance to step closer and say (acting much bigger than she is): ] What are you doing here?
With all the warnings of the guards running through her head ("be careful, princess! it's not safe to be out at night!"), she quietly slips out of her room to wander the dark, quiet halls of the castle she calls home. Maybe she can pick up a book from the library... read until exhaustion catches up to her. Or maybe just getting out of bed and a little bit of fresh air would be enough.
She doesn't quite make it to the library, though - out of the corner of her eye, she sees someone move, and it takes a moment for her to discern that whoever it is, they're not supposed to be there, and she takes a chance to step closer and say (acting much bigger than she is): ] What are you doing here?
[Vero is twenty, and he's probably making the biggest mistake of his life. He only hopes it'll be worth it in the end, when they have a dead king and someone else who isn't a crazy religious zealot takes over the throne.

Waking up next to Leo, warm, comfortable, and content... but not quite warm enough, at least in the Nohrian winters. He's no stranger to snow - Castle Shirasagi is always a sight to behold after a storm - but he swears it's colder in Windmire than anywhere within Hoshido's borders.
Light begins filtering in through the curtains, but for once Ryoma's not ready to rise with the sun. He shifts closer to Leo while his eyes are still closed (he assumes he's asleep) and wraps his arm loosely around him. Big king's about to be a big leech. ]

[The big difference between Nohrian and Hoshidan winters is that Nohrian winters are wet. It's rare for it to snow in Hoshido and the cold air is still. Meanwhile it's more rare for it to not snow in Nohr and the wind sweeps it and rain around and about relentlessly. So Leo can understand why Ryoma still has such a hard time with it.

[Joining up with this ragtag group along with the kitsune after the mess in Cyrkensia was turning out to be not so bad. They were never in one place for a very long time which was nice, they got to kill lots of faceless and bad humans which was extra nice, and there sure are some interesting people. Keaton knows he can't trust all of them quite yet but there are a good handful that he especially likes to hang out with.

[ Takumi's gotten more used to Keaton's company. Does that mean he's entirely comfortable with him? Not exactly. But he doesn't jolt like he used to whenever he approaches.
(It helps too that usually, he can hear him coming from a distance. He surely isn't quiet.) ] I'm tending to Fujin Yumi. [ He half-gestures to the bow in his lap, but his hands don't stop whatever it is they're doing I don't know shit about archery either. ]

[It's been a week or so since Leo arrived in Hoshido and since Oboro began helping him in the mornings with his clothes. The Hoshidan style yukatas had been so unfamiliar to Leo and he had struggled so much that hid retainers had brought her in to teach him how to properly layer the pieces and tie the knots.
Leo likes to think he picked up the skill rather easily (Oboro's been a very good sport, a very good teacher)but after the first couple goes at it on his own, he still wanted her to check his work and so she's continued to visit him in the mornings to assess his dressing. But something unusual has arisen from this now daily routine, and it's that Leo has begun to genuinely enjoy speaking with Oboro and the quiet time spent with her in the mornings.
It's been... really nice. He feels like he's able to be more relaxed with her in the mornings. He's sleepy and she's not on duty yet so, while there will always be that line of formality they can't cross due to their difference in stations, their time together is never quite as tense as it sometimes is when she's by Takumi's side. And Leo finds himself missing Oboro's presence when she can't tend to him. Because of course sometimes she's busy with actual retainer duties and Leo understands that - that's part of why he likes her ---
Leo suddenly pulls the knot of his obi too tight and makes himself wince. Don't, he warns himself. Just don't.
He looks at himself and the work he's done on autopilot in the mirror and is surprised to see... that it's perfect. He extends an arm and none of the sleeve is caught, the obi looks decent and isn't falling off him, even the collar isn't wrinkled. He's finally put himself together without Oboro's help. She might actually be proud of him when she comes in to see him today. This means she wont have to come by in the mornings anymore. It'll certainly be a relief for her, he's sure.
The thought immediately brings about a sense of unease - disappointment - that lays heavy in Leo's stomach.
And without thinking, he unties some of the trickier knots and ties them again. They're incorrect this time.]

[ Before his arrival in Hoshido, most of what Oboro knew of Leo came from Takumi. She imagined him to be an arrogant asshole who always makes a point to argue with her lord, and tries to insist he's better than her lord (which he's obviously not, and definitely can't be with that attitude).
But then Niles and Odin ask for her help and she begins to see just how wrong she is about him, and maybe Nohrians in general. He's flawed in an endearing way, a man just doing his best to be a worthy prince of a nation viewed so poorly, even if sometimes he gets a little tangled in his clothes. She sees the spark of energy in his eyes as he talks about magic and his other passions, his embarrassment clear as day as she lightheartedly teases him, and it makes her realize how human Leo is. And maybe that's just another reason on the ever-growing mental list she likes seeing him in the mornings, when most of the castle is still asleep or just beginning to stir - despite their differences, she... wants to spend time with him. [When Takumi first met Xander, he was over the Nohrian's house to work on a group project with Leo. His first impression had been that, oh, Xander was very attractive (which made sense since Leo was such a pretty boy and the pictures he'd seen of the sisters were gorgeous) but also that he'd been very polite. Welcoming. Nice.
Xander only continued to be nice every time Takumi saw him after that, and maybe Takumi has low standards but he's pretty sure his crush started from that. Xander is just so nice and so competent - he commands attention and respect without undermining others. And getting to talk to Xander in his home has been a treat, because Takumi always feels like he sees another side of the man that way. He's so gentle with Leo in a way that Takumi craves.
Takumi's aware that his crush is so stupid, he probably doesn't stand a chance and should be using the favor Leo owes him for something else. But he can't help but want to humor himself. At the least, maybe he they can get to the point where Xander knows him beyond "Leo's friend from college."
He's going to have to clear this first hurdle, though: convincing Leo to actually help him without him and his gross tomato brain teasing him for it.
