[ It's definitely really dumb, and leaves Uriel staring blankly at Vero for a moment before replying with a dry ] Yeah. [ They brush a bit of dirt of their sleeve. ] There's a lot to do on the farm.
[ ............ oh. right. Meeting people involves introductions. They think to offer the stranger their hand for a shake, but they take one look at the clay stuck to their fingers and drop their hand back to their side. ] I'm Uriel.
I'm an idiot. [You sure are, Vero.] I mean. I'm Vero. This is Harvey's clinic -- er, Harvey's with a patient right now but I'm sure you'll run into him eventually.
[Hopefully not for emergency surgery!]
[Vero doesn't really know what to say now. Though, as he takes in more and more of Uriel's disheveled appearance the more his instinct to fuss and dote bubbles in his chest.] Do you want to get cleaned up a bit while you're here? And I can get you something that'll make sure you can get back to your farm without collapsing.
The look on Uriel's face should make it pretty clear to Vero that they're not used to being fussed over. Even in a situation like this, where they're in a medical facility, it feels... weird. They've spent so much time by themselves, closed off from the rest of the world, that the idea of just waltzing into town and being asked if they're okay is odd.
But after a moment, they'll respond. ] ... Sure. [ They stay right where they are, though. w...here should they get cleaned up it's not like there's that many places to go right??? ]
[Vero really wonders what the fuck Uriel's waiting for until he realizes - oh yeah duh. They don't know this place like anyone else does. He books it the short way to the door separating the lobby from the rest of the clinic. Vero ushers Uriel through and into the adjoining areas where there are all the patient beds and a sink.]
Go ahead. I'll grab you some towels and the Energy Tonic.
[A beat.]
On the house, by the way. Since you're new and all.
[ Uriel is halfway reaching into his pocket to pull out the meager funds they have for that Energy Tonic when Vero says they won't have to pay. Which. Uh. ]
... Okay.
[ what are free things they used to work for joja???? free is a foreign concept????? But they won't question it - Mayor Lewis did say that the people here were kind, after all... They just didn't expect it to go this far so quickly.
With a warm feeling in their chest, they turn on the sink and start cleaning themself up. There's little they can do about their clothes, but they can at least roll up their sleeves, wash their arms, and splash some water over their face.
When Vero returns, Uriel will be looking a little less tired. And maybe a little more attractive? Who knows. ]
Vero keeps himself at arms length while handing Uriel the towel first. This isn't fair fuck this town with its increasingly attractive population.] There you go. You look better already.
[aaAUUUUGH Vero is only a little better at socializing than Uriel. He struggles a lot with it, and it's coming up now as he flounders over how to continue this conversation with this person he kinda maybe wants to know better.]
Have you planted anything yet? Or are you still clearing out the land? It was a mess last I saw it.
[ They are the most awkward piece of shit so they need all the help they can get. Once they’ve finished getting clean, they offer the towel back to Vero because uh it feels better than dropping it on the ground? ]
[Yes, Vero appreciates being given the towel back thank you. He'll take that into another back room, let Harvey know he's leaving early, and then be back to sweep Uriel out the door soon enough.]
Let's see... there's Anna's general store. Lyric - did you meet her? - who has construction supplies at her shop and she can help build things for you. And if you find any ore while cleaning up, you can take that to Clint; he's across the river by the library.
[That's really all it takes to fill the time it takes to walk between the two buildings. There's also Joja but uuhhh fuck that store, honestly. Vero holds the door to Anna's open for Uriel.] We're a tiny town but we've really got all you could possibly need.

Mm. [ Their voice is a little muffled by the towel as it's more or less wrapped around their head. ] Some of it's clear. It's enough for now.
[ aka just ignore the literal forest growing just past their front porch, it's fine, they've got some ground tilled for parsnips. ]
... ... I need more seeds. [ They say aloud, but it's mostly to themself. (But clearly Vero could show them around town personally-?!) ]

["Other things." As if Vero knows what you need to farm. He looks at the clock on the wall. What do you know, it's conveniently almost 3 o'clock.]
I can walk you over there. [And walk them in. And show them around. And try to introduce them to other folks since they're obviously an awkward shit.]
